Service Charge |
Lottery Money ReturnedIn response to requests by tenants to sort out the service charge problems at Willow Close, The Rowans & The Maples. The residents Association applied for, and spent a large number of hours filling in forms, for a lottery grant. We obtained the grant of £49,500.00 but one of the conditions of our receiving the grant was that at least 2 households of the area involved had to represent the other tenants organizing the use of this grant. In the last newsletter the chairman
asked for volunteers to
help to fulfill this condition with The Residents Association has had to return the money, and now we can have no further say in what Downland wish to charge you in service charges. We as an organization will be very reluctant to be involved in problems like this in future, because this took a large number of hours to organize, involved a lot of people and all to no avail. Whilst we as an organization do not agree with Downland did in placing service charges on tenants illegally, unless the tenants themselves are prepared to stand up for their rights and assist us, we can not be expected to help them. The money has gone back, the service charges will stand.
